Yesterday, after work, I went to the best music shop in town, Aage, to try a new guitar.
My own guitar, the Schecter Omen 6 FR, while being immensely fun to play on, is not the most expensive or well-constructed guitar. It was, however, cheap, which is always nice.
Now, I’ve pretty much read exclusively good things about the EMG-81/85 combination of pickups for electric guitars, and I wanted to try them out. My guitar comes with El Cheapo pickups, only good for recognizing what you’re playing, but without much tone to them. This was not obvious to me before, but it’s glaringly obvious now that I’ve tried a “slightly” more expensive guitar. It costs 5 times more than my guitar, and it really shows. The feeling is vastly different. Everything is might more tight and precise. The build quality is much better, and the tone is amazing! I must have EMG pickups on my next guitar. They sound perfect, and they look amazing as well!
The only problem with that guitar is that it’s much too expensive to buy. A minor detail, I guess. I wish I were a millionaire.
